Fishing the Juno Beach Pier

The short answer

You do not need your own fishing licence to fish from the Juno Beach Pier in Juno Beach, Florida: Loggerhead Marinelife Center says the pier holds one for anglers. The daily fishing fee is $5, or $3 for anglers 12 and under and for veterans. Anglers 16 and older fishing for sharks still need FWC's free shore-based shark permit. Sections close during the 2026 refurbishment, so call 561-855-6185 first.

The Juno Beach Pier is 990 feet long, and Palm Beach County and Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) both describe it as offering “990-feet of great saltwater fishing”. Three bodies set the rules you meet on a fishing trip here. LMC manages the pier and sells the daily fishing pass. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) sets licence and permit rules. Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation runs the beach around the pier. This page covers what each says, checked Oct. 19, 2026.

Do you need a fishing licence on the pier?

Not your own. LMC says: “Juno Beach Pier holds a fishing license for anglers, so no additional fishing license is required to fish from the pier.” FWC’s rules match that. Its list of people exempt from a saltwater fishing licence includes “Individuals saltwater fishing from a pier with a valid saltwater pier license.”

The shark permit is separate

There is one permit the pier licence does not cover. Since July 1, 2019, FWC has required anglers 16 and older to hold a shore-based shark fishing permit “when taking or attempting to take sharks from shore, including jetties, bridges and piers.” FWC adds: “No permit exemptions, even if exempt from fishing license requirements.” FWC lists the permit at $0.00 a year, issued through GoOutdoorsFlorida.com after an educational course. Fishing from the sand instead

Step off the pier and the pier licence no longer applies. For anglers fishing from shore elsewhere, FWC lists a resident annual shoreline saltwater licence at $17.00 and a non-resident 3-day licence at $17.00, “Valid for saltwater fishing from the shoreline or a structure affixed to shore.” FWC’s Do I Need a License? page lists who is exempt.

Fees

Daily passPrice LMC lists
Fishing$5.00
Youth fishing, 12 and under$3.00
Fishing, veterans$3.00
Spectator (no fishing)$2.00, free for veterans

Pier hours decide how long that pass lasts. LMC lists sunrise to sunset from March 1 to October 31 and later hours from November 1. A notice dated Feb. 19, 2026 says hours are sunrise to sunset, and LMC has not said whether the late hours return this winter, so do not plan a night trip until the pier confirms it. See pier hours and fees. Parking is a separate question. Palm Beach County lists parking fees at two other county parks, not at Juno Beach Park. July 2026 news reported a planned charge for out-of-county visitors; we found no confirmation that it is being collected. Check the signs at the lot, and see our parking page.

Tackle, bait and rental poles

LMC says: “The full-service Pier House features a friendly guest services team, snack bar, gift store as well as a variety of fishing tackle, including rental poles and bait.” We have not found published prices for bait or pole rental. Ask at the Pier House.

Fishing during the 2026 refurbishment

Construction began on June 1, 2026 and is phased so that sections close while they are worked on, rather than the whole pier. LMC’s Sept. 29, 2026 update scheduled work from Oct. 5 “in the area between the pier house and the first shade structure.” LMC’s page still lists fishing fees and Pier House services, but it does not say which stretch is open to anglers on a given day. Call 561-855-6185 before you load the car, and read our dated refurbishment log.

  • Loggerhead Marinelife Center's pier page still lists daily fishing fees and the Pier House tackle, rental poles and bait, and says the project is phased to avoid a full closure. It does not say in plain words which stretch is open to anglers on a given day; the Sept 29 update puts the October work between the pier house and the first shade structure. Call the pier on 561-855-6185 before a fishing trip. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Juno Beach Pier

Lessons and the kids clinic

LMC lists a Kids Fishing Clinic on the pier on Saturdays, for ages 8 to 14, two hours long. It also lists private fishing lessons starting at $25, for ages 8 and up, one hour long. The details are on LMC’s pier page.

Sea turtles, old line and the Responsible Pier Initiative

Palm Beach County says the Juno Beach Pier is part of the Responsible Pier Initiative. LMC describes the program as “a first-of-its-kind program” that gives first responders on fishing piers what they need to respond to sea turtle injuries and strandings: workshops, signs, rescue nets, pollution prevention and underwater cleaning. LMC says its dive team has “removed over 1,014 miles of monofilament from underneath the Juno Beach Pier and partnering pier location”. Take broken line and tackle with you when you leave.

If you hook or see an injured turtle

LMC’s instruction: “If you spot an injured sea turtle, call Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at 888-404-3922.” Save the number in your phone before you fish, and tell the Pier House staff. More on nesting season is on our sea turtles page.

Fishing from the beach next to the pier

Palm Beach County says that at Juno Beach Park “salt water fishing not permitted in guarded swimming areas” and “surfing not permitted in guarded swimming areas”; saltwater fishing is permitted from the pier. The county lists 300 feet of guarded beach frontage and a daily designated surfing area at the park. Watch for the lifeguard tower and its flag, and keep your line away from swimmers. What this page does not list

We do not list fish species, seasons, bag limits, size limits, gear limits or cast-net rules for the pier. We found no primary page publishing them for this pier on Oct. 19, 2026, and FWC’s regulations change. For catch rules, use FWC’s saltwater pages. For what is biting this week, ask at the Pier House.

Juno Beach Pier holds a fishing license for anglers, so no additional fishing license is required to fish from the pier. Parking: Palm Beach County lists parking fees only at R. G. Kreusler Memorial Park and South Inlet Park, not Juno Beach Park (checked Oct. 19, 2026). July 2026 news said nonresident charges were planned at some beachfront parks; check the signs on the day.

Fees as Loggerhead Marinelife Center lists them, checked 2026-10-19. It publishes no separate rate for children who walk out without fishing, so the calculator charges the spectator fee. Anglers 16 and older fishing for sharks also need FWC's free shore-based shark permit. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Juno Beach Pier

Do I need a Florida fishing licence to fish from the pier?

Not for general fishing. The exception is sharks: FWC requires a shore-based shark fishing permit for anglers 16 and older targeting sharks from piers, with "No permit exemptions."

Can I still fish from the pier during the construction?

LMC says the work is phased so the pier does not close fully, and it still lists daily fishing fees, rental poles and bait.
