Juno Beach Pier refurbishment: a dated log

The short answer

The Juno Beach Pier in Juno Beach, Florida has been in a phased refurbishment since June 1, 2026. Loggerhead Marinelife Center, which manages it, says sections close while they are worked on, a full closure is being avoided, and the job should take about six months. Its Sept. 29, 2026 update put work between the pier house and the first shade structure from Oct. 5. Check LMC before you go.

This is a dated log of the Juno Beach Pier refurbishment, built from what Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC), Palm Beach County and one news report have published. LMC manages the pier and posts the construction updates. County commissioners approved the contract (per CBS12), and Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation runs the park around the pier. Read LMC’s pier page or call the pier on 561-855-6185 before you go.

The timeline

March 3, 2026: county approves a decking and railing contract (news report)

CBS12 reported that Palm Beach County commissioners unanimously approved a work order with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, LLC, “authorizing up to $1,278,332.50”. The scope it describes: remove the old decking panels, railings, rail posts, supporting runners and fasteners, then install new decking and railing “across 990 linear feet of the pier”, paid from Parks and Recreation capital funds. This is a news report. We have not opened the county’s own agenda item. CBS12, Mar. 3, 2026.

March 2026: a schedule that was superseded

The same report said the work was “expected to start on March 16, 2026, and be completed within 120 days.” That is not the schedule that happened. LMC and the county both give June 1, 2026 as the start, and LMC’s estimate is about six months.

  • CBS12's March 3, 2026 report said the decking and railing work was "expected to start on March 16, 2026, and be completed within 120 days." Loggerhead Marinelife Center says construction began on June 1, 2026, with "about six months" estimated, and the county notice also gives June 1, 2026. The operator's June 1 start and six-month estimate replace the March report's 120-day schedule. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Juno Beach Pier; CBS12 News (Mar. 3, 2026)

County notice, still posted on Oct. 19, 2026

Palm Beach County’s pier and park pages carry this notice: “Construction for the refurbishment of the Juno Beach Pier is set to begin on site at the pier on June 1, 2026.” It links to LMC for details and updates. On Oct. 19, 2026 it was still in the future tense, so look to LMC for progress. Palm Beach County: Juno Beach Pier.

Aug. 12, 2026: progress photos

LMC’s pier page carries a photo block headed “Progress as of 8-12-2026”. It is images, with no written description of which sections were finished.

Sept. 29, 2026: more panels built offsite, restart date set

LMC’s latest posted update reads: “Update on construction as of Sept 29, 2026: After construction of more panels offsite, construction is scheduled to resume on the pier on Monday, October 5, 2026. Construction work will be in the area between the pier house and the first shade structure.” The word “resume” tells you that work on the pier itself had paused while the panels were made.

The page’s own modified date is Oct. 2, 2026. We found no newer written update on it.

Oct. 5, 2026: scheduled restart

This is the date LMC scheduled for work to resume between the pier house and the first shade structure. On Oct. 19, 2026 we found no LMC post on the pier page and no news report confirming that work did restart that day, or saying which sections were open to walkers and anglers that week.

What is known

  • Start: June 1, 2026 (LMC; the county notice gives the same date).
  • Approach: phased. Asked “Will the entire pier close?”, LMC answers “No. The project is phased specifically to avoid a full closure whenever possible.”
  • Why sections close: “For safety. Active construction zones can’t safely accommodate visitors, but we’ve structured the project in phases to minimize closures.”
  • How long: “The current estimate is about six months. We’ll continue to provide updates as the project progresses.” That is an estimate. LMC publishes no end date, and we do not turn the estimate into one.
  • Why it is happening: “Routine inspections identified the need for upgrades. Addressing it now ensures the pier remains safe and operational for years to come.”
  • Scope, per CBS12: decking panels, railings, rail posts, supporting runners and fasteners, across 990 linear feet.
  • Updates: LMC says the construction team gives it weekly updates on the next week’s work, “including the sections of the pier that will be under construction”, to share on the pier page and LMC’s social channels.

What is not published

  • An end date for the project.
  • A phase calendar: which section closes when, after the October work zone.
  • Confirmation that work restarted on Oct. 5, 2026.
  • Which stretch of the pier is open to anglers on a given day.
  • Whether the late winter hours from November 1 apply during the works. See the hours conflict.
  • Weekly updates on the pier page after Sept. 29, 2026. We found none there on Oct. 19; LMC also posts to its social channels, which this log does not cover.
  • What the new decking is made of. Claims you may see on social media are not in any source we could check.
  • The county’s own agenda item for the contract. The money and scope above come from CBS12.

Fishing and walking during the works

LMC’s pier page still lists the daily fishing fees and the Pier House tackle, rental poles and bait. It does not say in plain words which stretch is open to anglers on a given day. Call 561-855-6185 before a fishing trip. Fees are on our hours and fees page. Our fishing page covers the licence and the shark permit.

Marine life and the environment

LMC says the work follows “all applicable environmental regulations and best management practices”, with “timing restrictions, noise minimization, turbidity controls, and ongoing monitoring” to reduce effects on marine life. The works overlap sea turtle nesting season, which LMC says runs March 1 to October 31. More on that is on our sea turtles page.

What to do before you go

  1. Open LMC’s Juno Beach Pier page and read the date on the newest update. LMC promised weekly updates, so if the newest one is more than a week old, treat the open sections as unknown.
  2. Call the pier on 561-855-6185, above all before a fishing trip or an early or late visit.
  3. Look at LMC’s Pier Live Cam, linked from the same page.
  4. Check posted hours for your date with the checker below.
  5. Have a second plan, such as another beach or Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
  6. If you plan to swim, call the beach conditions line, 561-624-0065, swim near a lifeguard and read the flags.
  7. Read the parking signs at the lot. See parking.

The published schedules this checker uses

Worked out from schedules checked October 19, 2026: Loggerhead Marinelife Center's pier, center, Turtle Walk and TurtleFest pages, Palm Beach County's lifeguard page and NOAA's hurricane season dates. Where an operator's own pages disagree, the checker says so.

Questions about the construction

Is the Juno Beach Pier open?

Partly, while a phased refurbishment goes on. Loggerhead Marinelife Center, which manages the pier, says construction began on June 1, 2026 and is phased "to avoid a full closure whenever possible", with sections closed while crews work on them. Its Sept 29, 2026 update said work would resume on Oct. 5 between the pier house and the first shade structure. Check the LMC pier page or call 561-855-6185 before you go.

When will the pier refurbishment finish?

No end date has been published. Loggerhead Marinelife Center says "The current estimate is about six months" from the June 1, 2026 start, and that it will keep posting updates. A March 2026 news report gave a 120-day timeline, but the work actually began on June 1, so use the operator's six-month estimate and check its page for news.

Why is the Juno Beach Pier being refurbished?

Loggerhead Marinelife Center says "Routine inspections identified the need for upgrades", and doing the work now keeps the pier safe and open for years to come. CBS12 reported in March 2026 that the county approved up to $1,278,332.50 for new decking and railing across the pier's 990 feet.

Can I still fish from the pier during the construction?

LMC says the work is phased so the pier does not close fully, and it still lists daily fishing fees, rental poles and bait. It does not publish which sections anglers can use on a given day; it shares weekly updates on the sections under construction. Call the pier on 561-855-6185 before a fishing trip.
