Juno Beach Pier refurbishment, 2026: what LMC has said, update by update

The short answer

The Juno Beach Pier in Juno Beach, Florida, has been under a phased refurbishment since June 1, 2026, says Loggerhead Marinelife Center, which manages it. LMC's latest posted update, dated Sept. 29, 2026, put the work between the pier house and the first shade structure from Oct. 5. LMC estimates about six months in all and publishes no end date.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) has managed the Juno Beach Pier since 2014, and its pier page is where news about the refurbishment appears. The 990-foot pier sits in Palm Beach County’s Juno Beach Park, and the County’s own pier page sends readers to LMC for updates. This log puts every statement we could find from LMC, the County and the one news report in date order, in each source’s own words where we can. We checked all of them on Oct. 19, 2026.

Where things stood on Oct. 19, 2026

Work began June 1, 2026 (LMC). The project is phased so the whole pier does not close. LMC’s latest update, dated Sept. 29, put the work between the pier house and the first shade structure from Mon., Oct. 5. LMC’s estimate is about six months. No end date and no phase calendar are published.

The log, date by date

March 3, 2026: the contract, as CBS12 reported it

The earliest-dated public detail we found is a news report, not an LMC post. CBS12 reported on March 3, 2026 that Palm Beach County commissioners unanimously approved a work order with Wynn and Sons Environmental Construction Company, LLC, authorizing up to $1,278,332.50. The job it described: remove the old decking panels, railings, rail posts, supporting runners and fasteners, then install new decking and railing across 990 linear feet of the pier, paid from Parks and Recreation capital funds. We did not open the County’s agenda item, so the dollar figure is CBS12’s.

The same CBS12 report said the work was expected to start on March 16, 2026 and be completed within 120 days. That schedule did not happen. LMC and the County both later gave June 1, 2026 as the start, so read the March report as superseded for timing. It is still the clearest description of what is being replaced.

  • CBS12 (WPEC) reported on March 3, 2026 that Palm Beach County commissioners unanimously approved a work order with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, LLC, "authorizing up to $1,278,332.50" to remove the old decking panels, railings, rail posts, supporting runners and fasteners and install new decking and railing "across 990 linear feet of the pier", paid from Parks and Recreation capital funds. This is a news source; the county's own agenda item was not opened. CBS12 News: Juno Beach pier decking and railing replacement approved (Luli Ortiz, Mar. 3, 2026)
  • CBS12's March 3, 2026 report said the decking and railing work was "expected to start on March 16, 2026, and be completed within 120 days." Loggerhead Marinelife Center says construction began on June 1, 2026, with "about six months" estimated, and the county notice also gives June 1, 2026. The operator's June 1 start and six-month estimate replace the March report's 120-day schedule. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Juno Beach Pier; CBS12 News (Mar. 3, 2026)

June 1, 2026: work begins

LMC’s pier page says: “Construction for the refurbishment of the Juno Beach Pier began on June 1, 2026.” The County’s pier and Juno Beach Park pages still carried older wording on Oct. 19, that construction “is set to begin on site at the pier on June 1, 2026”, with a link to LMC. The County notice was written before the start and has not been changed since. LMC’s page is the newer of the two.

Aug. 12, 2026: progress photos

LMC’s page carries a photo block labeled “Progress as of 8-12-2026”. It has pictures and no text, so it shows that work was moving in August and says nothing about which sections were closed that week.

Sept. 29, 2026: panels built offsite, work moves to the pier house end

This is LMC’s latest posted update: “After construction of more panels offsite, construction is scheduled to resume on the pier on Monday, October 5, 2026. Construction work will be in the area between the pier house and the first shade structure.” Read closely, it says two things. New panels were being built away from the pier before Oct. 5, and the October work sits at the landward end, where you walk on from Juno Beach Park. The page shows a modified date of Oct. 2, 2026.

Oct. 19, 2026: no newer update

When we checked on Oct. 19, the Sept. 29 update was still the newest on LMC’s page. We found no LMC post and no news report confirming that work did restart on Oct. 5, and none saying when the pier house section will reopen.

What LMC says about the project as a whole

Asked whether the entire pier will close, LMC answers: “No. The project is phased specifically to avoid a full closure whenever possible.” Sections close “For safety. Active construction zones can’t safely accommodate visitors.” On why the work is happening: “Routine inspections identified the need for upgrades.”

On timing, LMC says: “The current estimate is about six months.” Six months from June 1 lands around the start of December 2026. That is our arithmetic on LMC’s estimate, not a date LMC has published, and the pause for offsite panel work in September is a reason to treat it loosely. LMC also says the work follows environmental rules, with “timing restrictions, noise minimization, turbidity controls, and ongoing monitoring” to limit effects on marine life.

  • Asked "Will the entire pier close?", Loggerhead Marinelife Center answers: "No. The project is phased specifically to avoid a full closure whenever possible." It says parts of the pier close "For safety. Active construction zones can't safely accommodate visitors, but we've structured the project in phases to minimize closures." • Loggerhead Marinelife Center says: "The current estimate is about six months. We'll continue to provide updates as the project progresses." It publishes no end date. Six months from the June 1, 2026 start would be around the start of December 2026, but that is an estimate, not a published date. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Juno Beach Pier, Construction FAQs

What has not been published

  • An end date for the project.
  • A phase calendar showing which section closes when.
  • A plain statement of which stretch is open to walkers and anglers on a given day.
  • Confirmation that the Oct. 5 restart went ahead as scheduled.
  • Any change to parking at Juno Beach Park. Neither LMC nor the County mentions lot closures for the project; see our parking page.
  • Whether the pier’s later Nov. 1 winter hours will apply while work continues. Our winter hours article sets out the conflict.

We will not fill those gaps with guesses. When LMC posts a newer update, the log above gets a new line.

  • Loggerhead Marinelife Center's pier page shows both a standing November 1 to February 28 schedule (6 a.m. to 10 p.m., to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays) and a notice that pier hours have been sunrise to sunset since February 19, 2026. Whether the late-night winter hours apply from November 1, 2026, during the refurbishment, is not stated. Tell readers to check with the pier. Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Juno Beach Pier, Hours

Can I still fish or walk the pier?

LMC’s pier page still lists daily fishing fees and the Pier House tackle, rental poles and bait, and it says the project is phased to avoid a full closure. What it does not say in plain words is which stretch is open on a given day. With the October work zone between the pier house and the first shade structure, the walk-on end itself is where work was scheduled, so call the pier on 561-855-6185 before a fishing trip. Fees and license rules are on our fishing page and in our fishing license explainer.

How to check before you go

LMC says the construction team gives it weekly updates on the work planned for the following week, “including the sections of the pier that will be under construction”, and that it shares them on the pier page and its social channels. Here is how we would use that:

  • Read the date on the newest update at the head of LMC’s pier page. If it is more than a week old, call.
  • Call pier and fishing information on 561-855-6185, the number Palm Beach County lists for the pier.
  • Look at LMC’s Pier Live Cam, linked from its pier page, before you leave home.
  • For swimming near the pier, check the County’s beach conditions report after 9 a.m. or call 561-624-0065.

Our pier refurbishment page keeps the running summary, pier hours and fees has the date checker, and plan your visit covers the rest of a day at Juno Beach Park.

Pier refurbishment questions

Is the Juno Beach Pier open?

Partly, while a phased refurbishment goes on. Loggerhead Marinelife Center, which manages the pier, says construction began on June 1, 2026 and is phased "to avoid a full closure whenever possible", with sections closed while crews work on them. Its Sept 29, 2026 update said work would resume on Oct. 5 between the pier house and the first shade structure. Check the LMC pier page or call 561-855-6185 before you go.

When will the pier refurbishment finish?

No end date has been published. Loggerhead Marinelife Center says "The current estimate is about six months" from the June 1, 2026 start, and that it will keep posting updates. A March 2026 news report gave a 120-day timeline, but the work actually began on June 1, so use the operator's six-month estimate and check its page for news.

Why is the Juno Beach Pier being refurbished?

Loggerhead Marinelife Center says "Routine inspections identified the need for upgrades", and doing the work now keeps the pier safe and open for years to come. CBS12 reported in March 2026 that the county approved up to $1,278,332.50 for new decking and railing across the pier's 990 feet.

Can I still fish from the pier during the construction?

LMC says the work is phased so the pier does not close fully, and it still lists daily fishing fees, rental poles and bait. It does not publish which sections anglers can use on a given day; it shares weekly updates on the sections under construction. Call the pier on 561-855-6185 before a fishing trip.
